Access to Information

The Access to Information Act grants the public a general right of access to official documents held by public authorities, subject to exemptions that balance that right against the public interest in exempting from disclosure governmental, commercial, or personal information of a sensitive nature.

Making an Access to Information Request

To make a request for information pursuant to the Access to Information Act, under the ATI, please download, complete and sign the Application Form for Access to Official Document, and submit same to the physical address or email address listed below.

  2. The Cabinet
  3. Law Enforcement
  4. Legal Privilege
  5. The National Economy
  6. Government’s deliberative processes
  7. Business affairs of others (trade secrets, etc.)
  8. Heritage sites
  9. Personal privacy
  10. Matters pursuant to Section 53(3) and 56 of the Integrity Commission Act

Response to Access to Information Requests

Upon receipt of your access to information request, the Commission will provide a written response acknowledging receipt.

Upon the conclusion of the Commission’s review of your request, you will receive a response within thirty (30) days informing you whether the request is granted and the information disclosed. You will also be informed of your right to appeal said decision, in the event that your request is denied.

In the event that your request is granted, the requested documents will be provided to you in the form in which they were requested. However, please be advised that access to same may be provided in another form if there is a need to preserve the document or its physical state makes the form of access requested inappropriate.
